Exporting to Your Laser

Formats, real sizes, cut vs engrave, and machine setup.

01

Choose a format

Native LightBurn (.lbrn2) and xTool (.xs) come in with separated layers ready to set power/speed. SVG and DXF open in any laser or CAD software. Depth/relief and dither export as PNG.

02

Set the real-world size

Turn on Set output size and enter the longest side in mm or inches. Every vector format imports at exactly that size, so nothing needs rescaling on the bed.

03

Cut vs engrave

By default filled art engraves and outlines/frames become a cut layer automatically. Use the Operation selector to force everything to engrave or cut.

04

Mirror for back-side

Engraving the back of clear acrylic or the reverse of leather? Turn on Mirror to flip the design horizontally.

05

Pick your machine

Set Diode, CO2, or Fiber so the file is oriented and set up the way that machine burns. Suggested powers are starting points — always test on scrap and use verified settings for your material.

💡 Save finished designs to your cloud library (My Designs, a Pro feature) to re-open and re-edit them later.
